L32 Series Shakeout & Cooling Rotary Drum
The L32 Series Shakeout & Cooling Rotary Drum is an integrated post-casting system that combines shakeout, cooling, and primary cleaning in a single unit—engineered for high-volume, continuous foundry lines. Hot molds (with castings and sand) enter the rotating drum, where centrifugal force, lifter-bar impacts, and internal airflow work together to rapidly disintegrate the mold, cool castings to ≤80°C, and remove loose surface sand. With a capacity of 30–150 tons/hour, it is widely used in automated plants producing automotive engine blocks/heads, ductile iron pipes, and heavy machinery components—significantly reducing downstream cleaning workload and improving line synchronization.
Working Principle
Infeed: Hot molds (boxed or boxless) are fed into the drum via conveyor.
Shakeout: The drum rotates at 4–8 rpm; internal lifter bars repeatedly lift and drop the molds, breaking apart sand from castings.
Cooling: Ambient air (optionally forced by blower) flows counter-current through the drum, extracting heat from castings and sand.
Primary Cleaning: Tumbling action causes castings to collide, dislodging adhered sand.
Discharge: Cooled castings and reclaimed sand are separated via built-in grates or external classifiers and routed to respective conveyors.
