Product Description of M Series Shell Sand Coating & Mixing Machine
The M Series Shell Sand Coating & Mixing Machine is a high-efficiency heating mixer designed specifically for the hot-box shell sand coating process, suitable for the preheating, mixing, and discharge of phenolic resin-coated sand. Widely used in shell mold/core production for engine manifolds, turbo housings, precision valves, and fittings, the M Series features a thermal oil-heated jacket + high-speed rotor + precise temperature control to uniformly preheat sand (140ā160°C) and rapidly melt and coat resināensuring a complete, dense resin film on each grain, enhancing shell strength, surface finish, and collapsibility.
Available in batch and continuous models, the M Series handles 100ā1500 kg per batch, and can operate standalone or integrate with sand heaters, cooling screens, automatic feeders, and robot core extractorsāforming a fully automated shell sand line that meets demands for consistent quality, high throughput, low energy, and minimal resin usage.
Working Principle
Sand Preheating
Dry base sand (silica or chromite) enters the heating mixing chamber via elevator or pneumatic conveyor. Thermal oil (180ā220°C) circulates through the jacket, uniformly heating the sand to 140ā160°Cāensuring consistent grain temperature without hot spots or caking.

Resin Addition & High-Speed Mixing
Once target temperature is reached, phenolic resin powder is fed via a screw metering feeder, while additives (e.g., stearic acid, hexamine) are injected. The high-speed rotor (150ā300 rpm) rapidly melts and coats the resināachieving uniform coverage in 60ā120 seconds, producing free-flowing coated sand.

Rapid Cooling & Discharge
After mixing, the coated sand is rapidly discharged via pneumatic/electric valve to a cooling screen or buffer hopper to prevent premature curing. Some models feature integrated cooling ducts for direct air cooling.
Fully automated via PLC + HMI, with temperature profiling, recipe storage, data logging, fault alarms. Optional spray-cleaning system prevents resin buildup and extends service life.
