Twin-Roller Sand Aerating Machine
he Twin-Roller Sand Aerating Machine is a key pre-treatment unit in foundry sand handling systems. It is primarily used to efficiently loosen and preliminarily crush compacted or caked spent sand delivered from shakeouts, conveyor belts, or sand hoppers. It restores inter-granular permeability, prevents blockages and wear in downstream equipment (e.g., elevators, coolers, mixers), and ensures continuous, stable operation of the sand system.
Featuring a dual-symmetric roller counter-rotation design, the machine uses cutting, compression, and tearing actions between roller teeth and sand lumps to achieve uniform sand aeration. Capacity ranges from 20–100 t/h, compatible with various sand systems including clay-bonded sand, sodium silicate sand, and resin-bonded sand—widely used in medium-to-large foundries for automotive, rail, pipe casting, and heavy machinery.
Working Principle
Feeding: Compacted spent sand enters the machine chamber via the top inlet.
Aeration & Crushing: Two rollers equipped with high-strength wear-resistant tooth plates rotate towards each other at low speed. Sand lumps are progressively torn and broken apart by shear and compression forces, forming a loose, permeable sand flow.
Discharge: Loosened sand is evenly discharged through the bottom outlet into downstream conveyors or cooling equipment.
Overload Protection: Equipped with hydraulic or mechanical safety coupling—if foreign objects (e.g., casting scraps, bolts) enter, the rollers automatically stop or slip, protecting the drive system.

Roller teeth made of high-chrome cast iron (Cr26–Cr28) or alloy steel with overlay welding, surface hardness HRC≥58—excellent wear resistance. Roller shafts are quenched and tempered for high strength, service life up to 12,000–15,000 hours.

Welded steel frame with high rigidity. Drive system uses hardened gear reducer + gear coupling—high efficiency, low vibration, low noise (≤80 dB(A)).
